Our name comes from a word coined by musician and artist Brian Eno, who said, “Rather than Genius which is the gift of an individual, Scenius is the gift of a whole group of people, of a community.”
We have a lovely team of twenty consultants, specialising in every type of fundraising, each of whom brings an average sector experience of over 20 years! And their experience extends beyond fundraising, to include marketing and communications, membership and alumni engagement, and even service delivery.
No client or job is too small. We helped Hope for Southall Street Homeless, which has an income of only £165k, to develop their first Fundraising Plan. And nor is any too big. We helped Sense, with a total income of over £90m, to review part of their Public Fundraising strategy.
We are all experienced fundraisers ourselves, some still working part time while also working for Scenius. We've worked in small grassroots organisations and we've led principle giving for part of Cambridge University's £1 Billion appeal.
Our involvement will feel more like new team members joining you, rather than outsiders coming in. We seek to be the kind of consultants we would have wanted to appoint ourselves, and we've worked with some bad ones!
We can offer as much or as little help as you feel you need, from a full Strategy Development process to an extra pair of hands to write some grant applications, create an appeal or run an event.
Our work spans four pillars:
Our founder, Matt Parkes, is currently Vice Chair of the CIOF.
